A Premier Lean-Centric Manufacturing Partner

For over twenty years, iniTECH has been a solutions-driven lean-centric engineering partner for the flavor & fragrance industry. Their approach is custom-tailored to each client, from the mom-and-pop facility to the international powerhouse, with a focus on maximizing existing capabilities and improving productivity cost-effectively. Their proprietary tools, cutting-edge software, and their AI-based factory design have earned them a spot on the global landscape.

In contrast to traditional engineering firms that deliver what the clients ask for, iniTECH goes beyond the status quo in its holistic efforts to upgrade its partners’ manufacturing facilities and footprint. The first step is optimizing inefficient manufacturing processes.

New clients are assigned an internal project manager who establishes a shared vision for the manufacturing plant and works to design an efficient plan. iniTECH then mobilizes its expert team, with its arsenal of tools, to analyze clients’ production units and eliminate non-value-added material movements and work processes This expedites all processes, alleviating needless expenses.

A coordinated approach follows that manufacturing processes are optimized, systems of operation are automated via integration into a single interface, while compliance is ensured via regulations and requirements (kosher, halal, etc.).

The method has a simple acronym: CIAO (Compliance, Integration, Automation, Optimization).

By design, everything goes together. The process automation aspect plays a significant role in the lean manufacturing process as it makes tasks simpler for operators who, in turn, work efficiently. iniTECH works with all ERP systems, human-machine interfaces (HMI), lab and analytical equipment, and programmable logic controllers.

It is agnostic to the client’s in-house tools. Whether the tools are from Siemens, SAP, Rockwell, Microsoft, Emerson, or anywhere else, their interfaces can be blended to make the process operator centric quickly while effortlessly delineating data.

“There are a variety of products out there. We want to merge them, so it becomes a single interface for the customer to streamline the whole process,” says Rich DiBernardo, CEO of iniTECH.

BatchMetrics, a manufacturing execution system (MES), is a prime example of their adaptable solutions. The software is specifically designed for the food, flavor, and fragrance industries and is customizable to fit clients’ in-house programs or individual needs. Unlike many other MES platforms that act as advanced reporting packages, BatchMetrics focuses on simplifying work processes by digitizing every step of the process and virtually eliminating manual data entry. DiBernardo compares its efficacy to E-ZPass and its automated toll collection system, where people no longer need to stop and manually input receipts.

iniTECH also has an AI-powered factory-design tool that evaluates data and aids in a cost-effective design.

In cases where clients need help finding quality equipment in the marketplace, it leverages engineering and fabrication capabilities to create them. The team collects operator feedback on existing tools to address hyper-specific improvements. For instance, in the mid-2000s, operators across the F&F landscape had trouble with the available mobile carts. iniTECH collated their issues and began designing their own line of carts, which has flourished for 15 years. The company is working on patenting similar innovative solutions that do not currently exist in the marketplace.

Driven by these top-grade innovations and services, iniTECH has expanded its focus from flavor and fragrance to consumer-packaged goods (CPG), nutraceuticals, and beauty care. One of the largest CPG companies in the world recently standardized BatchMetrics and is rolling it out globally.

At the core of iniTECH’s growth is a nimble company culture focusing on continuous learning and improvement. A combination of raw talent and disruptive innovation with diverse skill sets, including lean, mechanical, electrical, hazardous compliance, automation, HMI, MES, 3D modeling, process and data analysts, and project management, has made iniTECH a top-flight lean manufacturing partner for over two decades. iniTECH’s success has them poised to lead the way for years to come.
